Could you follow-up in this thread when you've got it working, please?
I could then try to rebuilt slang2 + mc for Breezy and see if it's
working as a backport.
We could also ask the backport team to put it in breezy-backports then,
although I'm not sure what will be the ramifications for other packages
depending on slang2, which (from my quick and quite unifnormed glance at
aptitude) seems to be quite a 'core' package.
