I carefully qualified that sentence with 'usually'. It's possible that
you hand out accounts on your desktop to whoever wants one, but it's
certainly not common behavior, nor one deserving of a change in Ubuntu's
defaults.
Colin's idea of a /home/$USER/private sounds optimal, though I suspect
the entire data security question will have to be revisited as soon as
we begin talking about folder and drive encryption -- which Martin
already discussed on the list some time ago, but the technologies
discussed weren't a good fit for Ubuntu at the time.
