I'm seeing lots of errors in ~/.xsession-errors from 'gnome-cups-icon',
and from the spamassassin being run by Evolution. There's also a
repeated message about 'bbdb ... last sync'.

A 'tail -f' tells me that it's constantly growing. Thats a problem for
two reasons. 1) It's wasting disk space, 2) it can prevent a laptop
hard drive from spinning down.

The messages from SA are asking "report junk??", which looks like an
interactive prompt of some kind. Any ideas?
