Solved (Re: Breezy AMD64 install not working.)

It turns out that the RAM modules that I had in it are not well enough
matched. They are the same brand, and are supposed to have the same
timings, but they are not the same part number. Apparently either the
Athlon-64 or this particular motherboard is very finicky about that.

My hypothesis is that whenever something crossed the physical RAM module
boundaries, it would goof up. With only one of them plugged in, it
works fine, no matter which one I choose or which slot I plug it into.

The Ubuntu Breezy Badger install is almost complete. It has booted from
the new SATA hard drive! This is awesome.

Did I tell you how I got the computer? My neighbor was having trouble
with it not working right... He replaced it with an identical board
thinking the RAM slot was burned out or defective. The new one didn't
work either, until we pulled out the two sticks that I now have. He was
so grateful that I helped get his computer working that he gave me the
motherboard for free.

I paid about $380 for a CPU and parts, and now I've got an Athlon-64
breezing along. Nice.
