what has changed in usplash/fb?

I was running Breezy last week, upgraded from Hoary. Usplash was split 
across the bottom and up the top, due to a frame buffer bug that has 
been discussed on this list a number of times.

But today I installed Breezy RC, and my usplash is centered correctly, 
but the logo is bright pink and blue and red and looks funny. The "ok"s 
are bright green, and "fails" are pink.

What was changed? The framebuffer bug is fixed I think, but why would 
this distortion occur? Is it happening on all machines, or just these 
laptops that suffer from the vga16fb bugs (like mine)? Should I file a bug?
