Emacs Package on Ubuntu

Hi Ubuntu folks,
Is there any Emacs package available on Ubuntu? I just checked with
apt-get and got below information.

[/root]apt-get install emacs
Reading package lists... Done
Building dependency tree... Done
Package emacs is not available, but is referred to by another package.
This may mean that the package is missing, has been obsoleted, or
is only available from another source
E: Package emacs has no installation candidate


Any suggestions?
