That could be true, but we should stop ignoring this problem. Init is
very problematic on Linux, but specially on Ubuntu. Ubuntu boots slower
then RH4 AS on same laptop. And RH4 boots with much more services (like
tomcat, postgresql, open-xchange...). Difference is even more obviuos on
slower machines.

Ubuntu is booting slower. This is a fact. Init needs some cleanups (not
only in Ubuntu) and there are some projects. Problem is that those
projects are incompatibile with init as it is today. Maybe we should
take a look at OpenSolaris?
