apt-get.org

Hello everyone,

one of Hoary's release goals is:
"Ubuntu is a Linux distribution for the desktop or the server that
includes all of Debian as well as most of the packages of
apt-get.org, ..."

Brandon Hale and I reviewed the repositories on apt-get.org, chucked out
those that had no source packages, those that were woody backports and
so on. You can see the result of our work on
http://www.ubuntulinux.org/wiki/AptGetOrg

Since this is a matter of great importance, I beg you kindly to review
the list, check if there are repositories known to not work or which
shouldn't be installed by users at all. Please help us! Please share
your concerns and ideas!

I already talked to some people about it and here are the questions that
turned up, I hope they're leading to those decisions we'll have to make:
      * How do we further cope with apt-get.org?
      * Will there be a MOTU and a apt-get.org route of getting packages
        in?
      * Will we have another repository, like main, restricted,
        universe, multiverse, apt-get.org?
      * How do we get repository maintainers to work closely with us and
shall we provide them with an easy entry path as
        Members/MOTUs/Maintainers?

Please make this discussion a lively one, so we can tackle the most
serious problems.

Thanks in advance, have a nice day,
 Daniel
