It sounds like you are looking for something like a design document; there
is none that I am aware of.

The hardware detection facility is based primarily on the hotplug
infrastructure.

I'm not sure what you mean by "packages configuration".

Given your application, I expect you would be interested in the development
of an OEM installer facility for our next release:
