Have you tried using it at all? My experience with almost all modern
distros, especially Ubuntu, is that almost all things are available. The
right module might not be loaded, or the program isn't cofigured
properly, but it's all there.

Judging from /boot/config-2.6.10-5-686 framebuffer support is compiled
as modules. There seems to be a few that are excluded so you should
probably make sure you have what you need.
