If you don't file a bug about it, it is unlikely to ever be fixed, because
it is working well for many others.
If the configuration code didn't do the right thing for your system, that
code should be fixed (if possible), rather than thrown away.

Another great reason to use the same detection infrastructure: so that it
can be used for testing.
