Kernel 2.6.10 problems

I have an iRiver player, which behaves exactly as a USB storage device
and mounts like a USB hard drive. I don't have any problems with it
mounting or unmounting on plug-in, except that once in a while the icon
would not show on the desktop, but that is not a kernel problem. My
kernel is 2.6.10-3-k7
