I'm on hoary and have synaptic 0.56, but even having unchecked (as you said, it was by default unchecked) "apply changes in a terminal window., I still see the terminal window. Is that a bug or why doesn't I get the new progress bar for installing programs? Hope I could help with my experience. -- rwabel
