+1.  And I don't even *like* spatial mode (my non-techie wife does,
though).

Having Ubuntu backwatered from the Gnome mainline is not a good plan.
If you offered people an easy-to-find preferences dialog, with clear
explanations of the differences from "stock" Gnome model, and made it
*not* the default, then maybe (but probably not this close to a release).
