Suspend on Sony VAIO PCG-GRX500

Hi,

Suspend to disk and memory appear to suspend the laptop with the
consequence that the screen shows garbage while going to sleep mode in
both cases. While resuming from suspend to disk, the laptop powers up, I
hear some activity in the hard drive and screen goes totally blank and
I can't do anything. Not even <Alt>Fn1 to go to other consoles.

While resuming from memory, the screen shows the same garbage that it
showed while suspending.
