Feature request: browsing filesystem in gnome "computer" menu

I do need several pages open at the same time, that is why I don't
understand tabs. With separate windows I can either switch between them
using Alt-Tab or just move them on the screen, so I can see all the
information needed. With tabs, they alway overlap one another since they
are part of the same window and in order to switch between them I wither
need to use mouse or remember some sort of extra shortcut. Also with
separate windows, I get the advantage of "smart" window switching, which
is not available for tabs. All in all I still do not understand why is
everybody ecstatic about tabbed browsing.
