hi,

there were several people on IRC recently which had ISA soundcards where
the drivers werent loaded properly....
it seems that several hardware suppliers use onboard ISA soundcards even
on recent hardware (i.e. laptops)
on normal desktop systems you can advise users to disable the onboard
sound and apply a PCI card....

how will we handle ISA that cannot be replaced....

one of the ubuntu goals is to support development countries where you
will find ISA in serveral other places (i.e. NICs, probably SCSI...) and
the people will not have the ability to simply exchange that HW.

i havent looked into ISA stuff since 2.2 and i guess the majority of
ubuntu devs hasnt too, but i think its necessary to support it....

so, whats the way to go here ?

ciao
