location / profile

I installed ubuntu on my powerbook after i got tired of OSX ( having no
virtual desktops is truly awful )

However there is one thing I do miss about OSX: The consistent
integration of various system profiles for different locations

Computer-->System Configuration-->Networking seems to be aiming at that
but it seems to be very unstable,at least i gave up on using it..
Guess/Hope someone is working on that for hoary(?!)

After switching/loading a profile it sometimes blocks completely and
does not update the widget anymore waiting for some external program
(route? dhcp? dunno) and it looks as if it crashed..

Also i think it would be nice if there was a
location-switcher-panel-applet.

Furthermore it should offer control over proxy settings in firefox.
>From firefox man page:

-P profile
	Start with profile

So that should work i guess..
