It shouldn't be necessary - the call stack addresses do not change
whether or not you have debug symbols installed. OpenOffice.org uses
this fact to analyse stack traces sent in from people even though they
have no symbols installed.
I don't know if there is infrastructure to analyse the addresses using
the available -dbg information, but IMO that would be a better place to
automate things, as it does need the user to download and install
additional packages.
