Again, my apologies, this should really be in ubuntu-user:
linuxant hsf modem driver needs to be stopped for this to work
*unsupported* i.e: /etc/init.d/hsf stop
I have still yet to get linuxant hsf drivers to work properly, trying
now with kernel 2.6.8.1-3-686
