I don't understand one thing about the linux world - One one hand they say that they don't get (enough) funds but on the other hand they also don't want to do the required stuff to get the funds. Kind of strange.

There seems to be a lot of things you don't understand about the Linux world.

Your premise that money motivates {many|most|all} folks who create and
maintain projects are a big misunderstanding. The articles I've read
on the subject indicate the opposite -- developers are not motivated
by money. They do it for other reasons.
