Exfat partitions created in Linux cannot be read on Windows (7+) or Mac OS X

A good first approach is http://packages.ubuntu.com/ where you can
search not only for the name of a package but also for the names of
files of any package. In this case file name mkfs.exfat leads to
http://packages.ubuntu.com/wily/exfat-utils

On that Package Detail page on the right side starting with Maintainer
you get a (often long enough) list of contacts as well as source code
:)

Best regards

Ben
