I want to add my own personal experience with unity 8 + mir, in case It
proved useful

In my case it didn't work at all. It showed the login screen but didn't
let me introduce my password.

I'm using 15.10 and the 635GT with the NVIDIA propietary driver with a
4770 processor and 16 GB of RAM. Maybe the problem is that I have to
run Xenial but I report the problem here. since I tried to update via
do-release-upgrade -p and didn't go so well.
