Brother brscan2 not working on 12.10

When you successfully installed the lpr driver and do a dpkg -L you should see all the files installed.
In my case there was only a single binary, which I started to disassemble: /opt/Brother/smth./<product>filter.
The funny part: I noticed it is 32-bit and therefore needs a 32bit libc, which wasn't installed.
