Does Ubuntu for Nexus 7 still use full OpenGL?

Does the Android emulator have hardware acceleration when run on Ubuntu for
Nexus 7?

If yes to those questions (particularly the 2nd), then it should
theoretically be possible to setup Ubuntu handling the GPU, then pipe
Android's OpenGL ES graphics commands into Ubuntu using the method that the
Android emulator uses to convert OpenGL ES to OpenGL+X11.
