The cloud directory name "Ubuntu One" has a space in it....

Why can't you remove it? Just create a new synced directory, right click
the "Ubuntu One" directory and click on "Stop synchronizing this folder".
Seems to me you have a very specific use case with broken software. Most
people wouldn't hit a limitation with spaces in directory names.
