login window functionality request - gdm?

In a nutshell the login window isn't left handed user friendly since it
assumes a "normal" right handed mouse. Left handed users have the
button functionality reversed.
Talking about a Ubuntu/Xubuntu/Mint fully functional system that is in
active use and trying to login:
* clicking on a user's name with 'primary mouse button' does nothing -
to get the desired function, moving on to password entry, requires
either [enter] or 'secondary mouse button'
* after entering password clicking "login" with 'primary mouse button'
does nothing - to get the desired function requires either [enter] or
'secondary mouse button' press
I can appreciate that GDM (or whatever) doesn't have access to the
user's preferences. Would it hurt anything if both buttons were
allowed? There isn't any conflicting action that I can see.
