Password change in user management does not prompt for confirmation

I'm using Kubuntu and the GUI user manager in KDE's systemsettings does not
prompt for any confirmantion when you change a password. This seems
dangerous to me. Should there be a confirmation since the input is masked
with black dots so I can't see what I've typed?

Also, when you change a user's password this way the user's encryped home
directory password is not changed to match, so that user can't login after
the change. This is listed in a pretty old bug on launchpad from back in
May. Why hasn't it been addressed?
