A (hopefully) different thread about Mono, or, Mononono

First let me start by mentioning the Ubuntu Technical Board's Mono
Position Statement:
https://lists.ubuntu.com/archives/ubuntu-devel-announce/2009-June/000584.html

I'm not going to try to rehash the various arguments about Mono that
have been mentioned here before, but rather, this is about my personal
wish to avoid Mono on my own system(s).

I read through the instructions given to remove Mono on:
http://www.theopensourcerer.com/2009/10/29/how-to-remove-mono-from-ubuntu-9-10-karmic-koala/
and there's a little note about:

"Depending on your vigilance or need, you may wish to install the
package called Mononono which will keep a look out for you and alert
you if an application tries to install any Mono components."

Basically it's a metapackage that conflicts with the various mono
dependencies. Why doesn't Ubuntu have this? This would allow the
people who care to easily scrub their systems and get noticed on
popcon (right now see http://popcon.ubuntu.com/unknown/by_inst)

Does anyone else (especially MOTU members ;) think adding this package
to the repos would be a good idea for Lucid?
