I think that the new mono-based audio player in ubuntu can also do 
movies. They are half-way between audio and pictures :) But at that 
point, perhaps patching  banshee to also display pics, and making it a 
"media collection manager" would be nice. Not to the people who do not 
like mono, but nice.
