Just pointing fingers at Mozilla doesn't resolve the problem. Firefox is
in main and is the default web browser in Ubuntu.

What can be done to fix this except just nagging in the Mozilla-bug?
That bug is btw VERY old so I wouldn't keep my breath waiting for it to
get fixed. From the bug: "Reported: 2000-10-14 14:13 PST by Stephen
Moehle".

Can't the Ubuntu-community write a fix and submit it to Firefox? The bug
at Mozilla has a tag "helpwanted" so they seem to be open to
suggestions/patches.
