"Open With" dialog not user-friendly

This bug really needs some attention:

It should, AFAIK, be a high priority bug and a release stopper. It is
not reasonable to expect that the average Ubuntu-user is able to find
the correct helper application for the file that they are downloading
and want to open.

If you open a file from Nautilus and select Open With > Other
Application that looks just great. Why not have the same dialog from
Firefox?
