Hardy bug with fwlanusb

Hi,

there is a bug [1] in Hardy with the module fwlanusb which is part of the 
linux-restricted-modules package. I found a solution and submitted a 
patch several months ago. Others have reported that the patch works. The 
bug is marked as high importance and is assigned to the kernel team. 
However until now there is no working package available.

Now the question is, what has to be done to get a fixed working package 
released. It is not a real problem for me because I know how to fix it. 
But there are obviously several people who are waiting for a fix.
