Hello,
As I just joined this mailing list, a brief
introduction is in order. My name is Seth Hetu; I've
been using Ubuntu since Edgy, and I just started my
own project (http://code.google.com/p/scim-waitzar) to
add support for Burmese (SCIM) input to Ubuntu.
So far, my experience has been positive and my
progress monotonic. I see no obstacle preventing
completion of this module. However, some minor
glitches keep appearing. Specifically:
1) The Console cuts off characters
2) Some situations lead me to believe that the
(incompatible) Unicode 4.0 encoding --or, possibly, a
non-standard font-- of Burmese is being used
mistakenly.
I'm very willing to work with other developers, and
to contribute to the language-support package for
Burmese, but I have no previous experience with this
under Linux. I know a great deal about encoding and
font particulars regarding Burmese, and I think my
scim IMEngine will be very useful for native Burmese
users of Ubuntu, but I need some help.
Thanks in advance,
-->Seth
