synaptic/apdate-manager hangs at start

Dear Sirs

I'm using UBUNTU Linux 8.04 (beta), in an AMD Sempron(tm) Processor 2800+,
1596.479 MHz, L2 cache 256 KB and I have observed synaptic and
apdate-manager
(and some other system utilities) hanging at start.

Looking for active processes, I found gksu/sudo stoped before them.

So as I kill gksu, the process synaptic (and/or others mentioned), goes on.

By other hand, gnome-system-monitor, lets me kill, without autentication,
what lets me think, there is a security fail here.

I hope to help advising about.

Best regards
RGMüller
