unstable repository

Hi all,
     There was some discussion on having an unstable & experimental
repository just like debian but don't know whatever happened to that.
Can somebody share if ubuntu is moving to that space? As I see so many
of the packagers already package new stuff about a week or so after
the sources have been done which is cool. If we have an unstable repo
then it would be really cool. Looking forward for comments
