This is Jane Weideman reporting for **Distro Sprint News**.

In the aftermath of the Distro Plague of Death the score is now.
Plague vs Survivors - 12 : 6

In response to the rumours [1], I can confirm with a fair level of
certainty that Paul Sladen is in fact *not* the cause of this particular
outbreak, as he has not been present - however I know he has been in the
vicinity of London so it can't be fully ruled out ;).

Most of the team members are now recovered enough to be hard at work
again.

Today's progress is detailed below:

----

Upstream timezone data structure reviewed. Test builds of
timezone data carried out in preparation for moving this data out of
core glibc package. The locales were updated and cleaned up. Belocs
binaries will be separated from glibc and next glibc upload will drop
those patches. This will make it easy to update this after release
and will keep people happy.

The klibc build failure on Sparc was investigated. Cause was found to
be a combination of a misconfigured buildd, and a missed line of a
patch.

More preparation work was done for moving locale binaries from glibc to
locales. Final move waiting on pitti's full recovery .

Remaining X bugs were looked at, and X was discussed with Daniel Stone,
when he showed up at the sprint.

Kernel packages prepared to track another regression.

Automatic Upgrades/release-upgrades supports xubuntu now, has a more
flexible configuration, and supports purging of selected packages, an
auto-test chroot was also set up.

Support added to allow out-of-the-box support for SD and MMC cards on
IBM laptops

Work went into refactoring Espresso components so that the UI can be
made to work properly; now about 50% done.

Lots of transition work was done -mysql client library, gnome 1, seeds.

As always bug triage and security reviews and other housekeeping.

The weekly Dapper Development Status Update meeting was held. The
updated status report was sent out earlier today.
