long time bug in tsclient

Greetings

I have been following a bug [1] in Ubuntu and following the initiative
to lower the number of bugs [2] with patches in Ubuntu. I see that
this particular bug is not as a simple patch bug.

Almost a year ago, I tested the patch and it worked as expected.

* Emailed the patch upstream and registered the bug in their BTS
* I registed the bug in Debian's BTS

However, since the patch is very intrusive in the code, in Ubuntu, it
has suggested that either upstream or debian take the step of applying
in the patch[3]. However there is a new version of the application
(tsclient), Upstream has yet to respond to the patch either by email
or the bts and Debian seems not interested in maintaining the changes.
I believe this situation can be solved by upgrading the application in
Debian and solving this bug [4].

This situation is beyond my scope, I am new contributor to Ubuntu and
it seems it is either the Ubuntu Desktop Teams call, or Debian's by a
package upgrade.

Best Regards
