Making example-content more visible

Hello everybody,

you might have heard of the ExampleContent spec already, which will
bring funky content to our users.

It will be great to

      * showcase or
      * experiment with or
      * test our applications
      * and to have fun :-)

Apart from making the content fresher, more exciting and more fun, one
problem remains: making example content more visible. At the moment it's
installed into /usr/share/example-content - a place that my mother would
never find.

What can we do to make this better? Some proposals are obvious:

      * deploy a link on the desktop via /etc/skel? What about existing
        users?
      * deploy links in .postinst for all users? What about users who
        delete the link and what happens with the next package update?
      * copy to the Desktop? what about full filesystem? Isn't that
        ugly? :-)
      * add a GTK fileselector bookmark / entry in the places menu? What
        about users wanting to remove the entry but still keep example
        content?

You see that it's not quite easy to make example-content more visible.

I'd very much like to hear your input on this.

Have a nice day,
 Daniel
