I'm not speaking about the IP policy, but the brand strategy as a hole. 
I think the current IP policy culture belongs to that.

That can be true, although I also see in <http://tinyurl.com/q4yo9f2> 
that Ubuntu starts been bearish exactly with the change of branding, 
while other Linuxes do before that. Probably Ubuntu was taking these users.

On the other hand Android is a different market, as it doesn't include 
the average desktop, laptop or server. I think that this amount of 
searches is because when people are looking to buy a new device they 
search by the operating system name, while for desktop they just call 
them PCs or Macs.
