The fee which is required would help the *association* to fund more easily
some events organised by Ubuntu-cm for example.
This association **has not the intend** to make profits or to leverage
access to anybody. We need a legal statut regarding the cameroonian
environment. It will give us a better visibility.
All the statements that you have mentioned above will always remain true
within Ubuntu-cm. You are still able to participate in the locoTeam by
subscribing to Launchpad [2], the Wiki[3], the mailing-list[4] , the
forum[5] . Adherence to the association is *not mandatory*.
Concerning specifically the payment of the fee, right now we can't modifiy
the status because these texts have been discussed publicly with all the
attendees to some IRC meetings. Here [6] and here [7] at least.
It's possible to update this term of the status during a meeting (be it
online or physically) or we can even vote through Launchpad (there is a
mecanism that enable us to vote) . I'm sure that you have noticed that we
are trying to keep public *every* conversation regarding the association...
We believe that this way we remain transparent and expect the feedback of
everybody (like you) thus further modifications.
So I'm ok if we change this term when the association will be legalised and
during a meeting. In fact, I'm ok to change *everything* IF AND ONLY IF
people participate, read what have been done and take the lead when there
are ToDo stuff. The most important is to make things forward and spread the
*philosophy* and usage of free/open source software in cameroon.
Once again i say that it's not mandatory to apply for a membership in the
association. The Cameroonian LocoTeam is already a big ecosystem and
everybody can be involved in any part.

I think that this evolution has been observed within the locoteam since
2007. If you can, try to skim the mailing-list archive [8] and notice how
much things are evolving.
We are at a stage where we need a legal personnality to defend interests of
the community in Cameroon... We are at a stage where we need more
commitments from members (in the association or not) ; a community should
not rely only on 2 or 3 guys :(
Sorry for the long mail and Congratulations on your good work.
