[Ubuntu-ch] "Ubuntu-Stammtisch" on Thu and "Ubuntu-Meeting" on Sat

Hi all,

Several discussions at the Zürich RP and afterwards have shown that an
event somewhat like the Ubuntu-Stammtisch in Zürich, but on weekends,
would be a nice thing. It shouldn't be an Ubuntu RP, but it shouldn't
just be a beer-drinking meeting either, something in between would be nice.

We as Stammtisch organizers of course agreed: A lot of people WOULD come
to the Ubuntu-Stammtisch on Thursday evenings, but can't, either because
Zürich is too far away from where they live or because they simply can't
afford to spend an evening in town on a normal workday.

So we decided to introduce something we call the "Ubuntu Meeting", a
meeting for all people interested in Ubuntu, which takes place on
Saturdays, once a month. Since we can't really afford to do an
Ubuntu-Stammtisch AND an Ubuntu Meeting every other week, each of these
events will only happen once a month. There's an announcement here (in
German):

http://gnupingu.ch/2008/06/ubuntu-samstagsveranstaltung-kommt/

There's also a link to a discussion on the topic at Ubuntuusers.de.

The first such event will be on Saturday, 28th of June, at the usual
Stammtisch location. Of course we also welcome any of you Ubunteros at
the regular Ubuntu-Stammtisch on June 19 (this Thursday), too, in case
you have any ideas for such Saturday events.

On the 19th, Michel Pauli will have a presentation about his projects
involving Free Software in Africa (Congo and Cameroon). This will be the
final presentation of this kind that we have on Thursdays, since we
think that the Stammtisch event should be reshaped. It will from now on
be a "simple" meeting of Ubuntu users to exchange hints, have a beer and
a chat. The heavier things such as presentations and talks will in the
future take place during the Ubuntu Meetings on Saturdays.

Of course any ideas or disagreeing opinions are welcome :)

Let me know what you think, and see you there!

Ramon
