Laptop suggestions

lol... try installing Slackware 1.1 on an IBM 486 - 18 hours of compile
time...

Actually, as I found out this week on a Mint 12 machine, the problem
wasn't NVidia but rather xorg. A bit of a warning - if you are doing
your updates and see one for xorg MAKE SURE to see what other changes it
makes along with the update. One of the ones is to change the default
video driver from NVidia to VESA... nasty... couldn't even boot into low
rez / recovery / grub / nadas... This update came out about 2 weeks ago
so still floating around.

I use WINE for everything Windows-ish on my machines (no MSOFT lives
here!) and no problems whatsoever. In fact many WinApps run better on
WINE than Windblows, esp the MSoft products... lol...
