Make sure that your computer is not in airplane mode (usually a physical switch on a laptop) and that "Enable Wireless"
is checked in the networking, uh, drop-down thingy.

I have found that sometimes if either airplane mode has been set or wireless mode disabled in the menu, I need to reboot
my machine to get wireless working again. Others' experience may differ.

Once you have wireless working, it should detect any nearby nodes automatically and display their SSID as an option in
the drop-down thingy. You can just click on it, enter the password if necessary, and hey presto magic you're in.

If your router has 'broadcast SSID' disabled you'll need to use the "Connect to hidden network" option. I don't ever
use that, so I can;t help much.
