I am very happy with my HP Officejet 2410series and 5310 series printers.

I use this software from the Ubuntu repositories...
hpijs
hplip
hplip-data
hplip-gui

On my main system I'm still using 9.04, as I upgrade other computers I'm
using 9.10, and PC-BSD. I recently made a new live CD-ROM with 9.10 and I
was very happy with how easy it is to do this using
http://uck.sourceforge.net/

BTW, I used to do HP printer support.
