I just have to throw in my 2 cents here....I dumped 2 Lexmark inkjets
about 2-3 years ago which I replaced with a couple of Samsung laser
printers ($99 each).....I was totally blown away to find inside the
packaging for the laser printer a CD with Linux drivers for CUPS + a
nice little "auto-compile and install" script....the drivers are all
built into Ubuntu so there is no need to use the CD, but for messing
with other OSes without the drivers included in the kernel it is really
handy to have

I've had a great experience with Samsung laser (2 years in and I've
replaced 1 toner cart.)
