computer extremely slow

I have a very similar graphics card in my Dell Laptop (Latitude 110L).
The graphics performance using Ubuntu 9.04 was so bad, that I
downgraded back to 8.04 until 9.10 was released. Now at 9.10, things
are back to normal.
I tried many tricks and tweaks in 9.04, including UXA, but never got
anything good enough, or stable enough to be what I consider usable.

This code is being actively developed, and many stability and performance issues have been resolved in the latest drivers (specifically within the intel driver, libdrm, mesa and the latest kernel 2.6.29.4). Unfortunately, Jaunty will not include the latest versions necessary to improve performance.

Due to these changes, there seems to be some regressions in the “legacy” DRI acceleration.'
