Laptop Screen Brightness

To set my laptop's brightness I have an applet on my panel.  Right click 
on the panel, click Add to Panel and select "Brightness Applet".  It 
stays at the selected level through rebooting (at least for me). 
Probably other ways to do it but that's one method.
