better way to upgrade

Perhaps someone should tell Dell about 8.04 being released. I spoke to
their staff the other day and they had no clue that there is anything
but what they offer, which is still Gutsy. I'm thinking of buying the
Inspiron 1525, but I'll have to do a dist-upgrade or a full install.
Probably the latter, as there will be no issues with preserving data
on a new machine, and it will let me do disk encryption with the
alternate installer.

FYI, the models that Dell ships with Ubuntu are NOT quite identical to
what stores like Staples carry in stock. In store machines usually
have a 'Dell' wifi card, which is made by Broadcom, so you'll end up
doing the Windows driver and ndiswrapper dance. The Ubuntu systems
have an Intel wireless setup. Don't expect the store staff to have a
clue about that....
