Ubuntu users in Ontario, Canada?

Yea, I read this stuff on the howtoforge.com but it's WAY beyond me.

This is like 1970s computing, where you have to configure things because the computers back then were too weak to do anything I suppose. Aren't today's computer strong enough to do their own configuring?

I don't understand anything they talk about on howtoforge.com, it's clearly not written for people who don't work with computers for a living.

Isn't there just a simple program you can download in Synaptic which will do all of the nasty stuff automatically? This is what regular non-computer people need really, something they can use.

A Secure login thing....just like when you go to on-line banking, that's a secure login thing. That's what I mean. Something like that.

Have you checked out http://www.howtoforge.com at all?  Great howto's 
for many things Ubuntu.  Might be a good review.

Can you elaborate on what you mean by "secure login thing"?
